Blog Post 4 Plan for Revisions
My research proposal has so far concentrated on the idea of defining terminology through the use of hyperlinks. I want to understand the average user's comprehension of the Washington County Bookings website and if hyperlinks would help overall comprehension. I plan to ensure that there is a clear and concise question I include in my research proposal that will ask this. This will make it easier for the reader to understand specifically what I am seeking to gauge. I am also considering using a more generic approach for my research proposal. I want to keep my audience wondering about most of the adjacent issues that surround this research question.
Sounds Interesting! It would probably be helpful to mention what type of research is going to be used and why that is the ideal method to use. It would also be important, I think, to have a specific "implications for future research" section, expressing how this research can be applied more generally to other websites or demographics.
ReplyDeleteHi Israel,
ReplyDeleteFrom the get-go, I really love your selected topic on hyperlinks and your choice of a specific website. I agree with Drew's comment about identifying a specific type of research method to answer your research question/s.
It looks like you can go a number of ways on this that am sure we'll get to discuss more this Friday. One possibility is that of doing a survey method since you are curious about the users' comprehension, etc... OR there's also doing a simple document analysis (e.g., rhetorical analysis) of the website from the perspective of writing for interactive media (for instance, applying web design principles to analyze the Washington Co. Bookings site, etc.). Let's touch base soon!

Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteAwesome revision plans so far! As you finalize your research proposal, am glad you're taking note of my feedback in your literature review to tighten it further. Am fairly certain that with more development, synthesis, etc. this section will lay the scholarly foundations of your research topic that will lead seamlessly toward your section on research design and methods.
Overall, I think your topic on document design is well-anchored within our field (PTW) and would be a great contribution to existing scholarship once turned into a capstone. Keep it up!!
